Voluntary work placements – “Transitions for Women”
Our work placements are complemented by on-the-job training and are mentored throughout, supported by a weekly “Client Peer Support Forum” for participants to discuss issues with other women volunteers from similar backgrounds. The three month voluntary placement offers a ‘step’ approach into work, that allows the women to build confidence through a progressively more challenging set of achievements, enabling them to finish with a solid, meaningful period of work experience, and a reference, to present to a future employer.
Paid work placements
In our role as advocate for the women, we are able to facilitate access to paid work opportunities that they might never otherwise access, due to their criminal record coupled with an often patchy or non-existent work history. These paid roles can flow naturally from an initial stint as a volunteer, or as stand-alone paid work – both fixed-term and open-ended contracts.
